No More Landfills
Constructing a sanitary landfill can cost millions of dollars and still have a limited lifespan. The WOIMA Ecosystem will replace the landfill altogether. Solid waste streams are recycled to raw materials, energy commodities, different fuels and fertilizer products. The Ecosystem requires less than one hectare of space and reduces the waste quantity by up to 99%. This will save valuable land and free the environment from potentially hazardous emissions, odors, leachate and an eyesore. The savings can then be used to improve the waste management activities to ensure the maximum efficiency of the waste-to-value process.
No More Emissions
Landfills are a major source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The anaerobic digestion of organic matter, such as food waste, generates methane gas, which is a GHG 25 times more harmful than CO2. Almost 10% of all the CO2 equivalent emissions in the world originate from landfills. The recent agreements regarding global warming will put a price tag on all CO2 emissions. The landfill owners and operators can then decide to be part of the solution by reducing their emissions with the WOIMA Ecosystem or start paying a carbon tax to enable others to tackle the problem.
