The waste fuel incineration process is one of the three key functions of any power plant besides the heat recovery boiler and flue gas treatment (FGT) system. Its purpose is to combust heterogeneous solid waste fuels flexibly to homogenous flue gas with good efficiency and with high tolerance for inert particles, such as metals, gravel and sand.

Waste incineration is also a major source of income for the plant through tipping fees besides energy sales since waste fuels have negative prices, i.e. the supplier is paying the plant operator to receive the waste fuel.

The wasteWOIMA® WtE power plant has two optional grate types available

  • Air-cooled grate for waste fuels with LHV between 7 and 17 MJ/kg
  • Partially water-cooled grate for fuels with LHV in 14 to 24 MJ/kg range

With the above ranges the wasteWOIMA® plant offers customers significantly more freedom in choosing waste fuels for incineration than other suppliers with narrower firing windows. With this freedom the customers can choose the most valuable, i.e. highest-tipping-fee fuels for their plant thus enhancing the economics of their operations. These fuels are typically industrial waste fuels and low-quality RDF/REF.

Combined, these WOIMAbenefits can generate up to 4,500,000€ of additional revenue during the WtE plant lifespan.
