Sustainable Product Design
Sustainability is built in the WOIMA solutions on several different levels
- decentralized small-scale solutions reduce unnecessary waste transportation
- long-lifespan solutions are material and CAPEX efficient
- modular structure simplifies assembly and dismantling
- manufacturing processes are material and energy efficient
- solutions are robust, energy efficient and easy to use and maintain
And last, but not least, WOIMA solutions are the key in improving waste management sustainability by recycling waste into energy and raw materials.
Our flexible and modular solutions ensure efficient operations under any conditions, adapt to changes in waste fuel supply and energy demand, and offer simple relocation option, if and when operating conditions change. They are suitable for solving both short and long-term waste challenges.
With our latest ccsWOIMA and ccuWOIMA carbon capture solutions, we will become a carbon negative base-load power plant supplier.
WOIMA’s every day operations are built on three sustainability pillars – economic, environmental, and social. We are committed to sustainability in all our activities and are constantly looking for new methods and ways to improve our operations from a sustainability perspective.
WOIMA solutions create wellbeing locally both in the short and long term. They use a widely available resource (waste) to create jobs and well-being. Simultaneously, they improve the local environmental conditions through better waste handling and overall waste reduction. The modular wasteWOIMA® power plant and WOIMA Ecosystem are the most sustainable solution for all solid waste fractions worldwide.
Supporting Sustainable Waste Management
Sustainable waste management can be defined as “using material resources efficiently to cut down on the amount of waste produced, and where waste is generated, dealing with it in a way that actively contributes to the economic, social, and environmental goals of sustainable development. WOIMA solutions integrate the most advanced waste treatment technologies to promote waste recycling and recovery of energy in the 4R context (reduce, reuse, recycle, recover).
By combining best available waste treatment technologies, we cut waste-related emissions, reduce the carbon footprint of power generation and play a key role in the forefront of climate change mitigation to create better living conditions now and in the future.
WOIMA Aligns with UN SDGs
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are an important tool in poverty eradication and environmental protection. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
WOIMA has aligned its solutions, operations, and projects to support the SDGs. The key targets for WOIMA are affordable and clean energy, economic growth, industry and innovation, and climate action. These will reduce inequality, poverty and hunger, and lead to sustainable societies, good health and wellbeing.
