Currently, the wasteWOIMA® WtE power plant uses very conservative steam parameters (400oC / 40 barg) to ensure high availability, low maintenance costs and overall reduced risks related to fuel quality. These steam parameters are used independent of the fuel, i.e. even with “easy” fuels that pose less risks for heat corrosion.
Several key factors affect the power plant’s power output, such as
- Steam quality
- Thermal losses
- Turbine and condenser efficiency
A wasteWOIMA® plant delivery can be originally designed with better steam parameters, e.g. but there is also room to improve the steam parameters in existing plants if the waste quality allows.
Additional potential improvements for higher revenue include
- Lowering flue gas temperature at boiler outlet
- Increasing feedwater temperature
- Steam reheating
- Improving steam turbine vacuum
Combined, these WOIMAbenefits can generate up to 1,000,000€ of additional revenue during the WtE plant lifespan.
