A waste-to-energy power plant can be a significant source of wastewater, if not designed properly. The wasteWOIMA® WtE plant is a dry plant that only uses dry or semi-dry systems and produces no wastewater. The plant does use water in cooling the bottom ash in the slag pool beneath the grate and in the flue gas treatment (FGT) system, but this water evaporates prior to becoming wastewater.
The wastewater treatment savings in the wasteWOIMA® plant are based mostly on

- No bureaucracy in permitting, reporting, auditing…
- No treated wastewater release point –related costs
The two potential wastewater sources; waste fuel (MSW) reception bunker and flue gas treatment scrubber, are not included in the calculation as they are not part of the standard wasteWOIMA® WtE plant.
