The wasteWOIMA® power plant is a small-scale solution, and investment, compared to the traditional centralized waste-to-energy plants. The projects are easy and fast to develop and reach bankable stage relatively quickly, even under one year. Combined with the 12-to-15-month construction period, the plant is ready for power, and cash flow, generation in two years after the project start. This speed and reasonably low investment size already re-risk the project to a level suitable for most investors.
Refinancing the plant is also significantly easier than with large-scale plants. Funds can diversify their portfolios by investing in several small-scale power plants in different geographical areas. This variety will reduce the overall location-related risk of their portfolios. “Green funds” that only invest in socially conscious and environmentally responsible companies offer a particularly interesting refinancing option.
